Warfaze, a pioneering Bangladeshi heavy metal music band along with Rockstrata, is performing at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka Hotel in 1988. The band was incepted by Ibrahim Kamal in 1984. The initial lineup was: Kamal on bass, Helal on drums, Mir and Naimul on guitars, and Bappi on vocals. This image has captured Babna Karim as the bassist, Kamal as the lead guitarist, and Reshad as the vocalist. I cannot recognise the other performer. Drummer Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu is probably playing behind this line-up.
It is amazing to see that in the early 1990s the band decided to write and perform original songs in Bangla. They did it and released one of the benchmark albums in Bangla rock music, “Obak Bhalobasha” in 1994. The band has gone through a long bumpy ride with many ups and downs in last 35 years, but it has brilliantly fought off all odds and has eventually emerged as one of the most successful and popular heavy metal music bands in Bangladesh. Cheers, Warfaze!
